Thanksgiving Weekend

Check out my Turkey Day shirt made by my Aunt Amy!

Did everyone have a nice Thanksgiving? I sure did!! Mom, Dad and I headed to my Aunt Jane & Uncle Gary's with the puppies on Wednesday night. We got there about 8:30, which is past my bedtime, but since I had slept most of the way there, Mom and Dad let me stay up for a while. Aunt Amy was there too! I got to show them all my new tricks! It was really great to see them since I hadn't seen them since this summer. The next day was Thanksgiving and my Grandma Peterson, Aunt Amanda and Scott all showed up to celebrate the holiday with us. We enjoyed the day watching old home movies and eating lots of yummy food. I was sad when we had to go, but hopefully I will see everyone again soon with Christmas coming up.

On Friday, we spent the day at home. We cooked our own Thanksgiving meal. Then on Saturday, we headed to Canisteo to make our rounds of visits. First, we stopped at Great-Grandma & Grandpa Young's house, and my Grandma Peters stopped over there to see me. None of them had seen me crawling yet, so they were very excited to watch me make my way around the house. I started to rock back and forth when I heard music, which prompted my Great-Grandpa to get out his guitar and play me some tunes. He even let me try to play a few notes.

Next, we went to visit Great-Grandma Peters. It was great to see her, but by the time I got there, I was so tired from all the playing with Grandma Betsy that I was kind of cranky and when Daddy picked me up in the rocking chair, it didn't take long before I was asleep. When I woke up, Mom and Dad were bundling me up again and we headed over to Grandpa Peters house. When Dad set me down in the kitchen, I immediately headed for the livingroom and all of Grandpa's different balls. I love balls and when I last visited, he had them in all different colors and sizes. There was a basketball, soccer ball, golf balls, foam balls!! I just love to play with them! We had dinner at Grandpa's and stayed for a while.

Sunday was just a day to rest up from the busy weekend we had! I got to spend a lot of time with my Daddy over the weekend. He quickly became my favorite person to go to. All in all, I thought Thanksgiving was lots of fun and I can't wait for next year!!

Oooh!! Some other big news from the weekend...I have a new cousin!! My Aunt Michelle gave birth to her second son, Cooper Michael Lyons on Wednesday afternoon. We get to go see him on Friday!!

New Bag of Tricks

I have got a whole bag of new tricks now!! I have now mastered the art of crawling. I am all over the place exploring everywhere I go. Not only that, but I can pull myself up to standing. I am standing up in my crib, on the side of my playbox, on the gate. I am seeing the world in a whole new way!! I am learning new stuff every day, especially this past week. I am starting to learn some of the sign language that Mom and Dad have been so diligently showing me. My Dad is so proud of me because this week, I finally got the idea of the "So Big" game. He says "So Big" and I raise my hands way up above my head and smile, then he claps for me and I clap too!! It is so fun!

I got to go to Rochester with my Mom this past weekend. She went out to a concert with Grandma and Aunt Lou Lou, so I got to stay with Aunt Jane, Aunt Amanda, and my cousins, Sarah, Karlie and Jenna. I got to show everyone all my new tricks! Aunt Jane and Aunt Amanda helped to put me to bed, which was a little weird for me because only Mom, Dad and Grandma have ever put me to bed. It was a little upseting at first, but Aunt Amanda picked me up to reassure me and rocked me to sleep.

I get to see her and Aunt Jane again on Thursday when I go to Syracuse for Thanksgiving. We are all going as a family, Mom, Dad, me and the doggies too! I will also get to see my Uncle Gary, Aunt Amy, Aunt Dottie, Scott and even Grandma Peterson will be there. I am really looking forward to my first Thanksgiving!!

Big Day...Crawling and First Official Word!!

I mentioned in my last post that one of my favorite new tricks is to shake my head back and forth when Mom or Dad says "No, no, no". Mom caught it on a video today! Today was a big day for me. I really caught on to this crawling stuff. It happened overnight!! Yesterday, I was only able to go a couple of crawls before landing on my belly, but today, I was all over the room!! I sure kept Mom busy as I began exploring all sorts of things, including the plant, VCR, lamp. Apparently there are a lot of things Mom doesn't want me to touch, because she kept saying "Tyrus NO!" which brought on some tears. I thought they might butter her up, but she stuck to her guns. I guess I am going to have to learn some new boundaries.

Last week, Mom had thought she might have caught my first word when the cat was up on the couch with us and it sounded like I said "kitty". She wasn't sure though, and she really wanted to make sure my first recorded word was a real word that I really understood the meaning of. Well, this morning, while watching my Baby Einstein video, I said "kitty" again and when Mom looked at the TV, they were showing a picture of a cat. She finally believes me that I said "kitty"...my official first word!

9 Month Doctor's Appointment

Today I went to see my doctor, Dr. Alexander with Mom and Dad. It was my 9-month check-up!! Can you believe I am 9 months already? Even scarier is that my next appointment is at 1 year old...and that is only 3 months away!! I got two shots today, but I am a tropper. I will admit that I cried out, but only for a second. As soon as Daddy scooped me up I was all better.

Here are all my new measurements...
Head: 47 cm (up from 45.5 cm at 6 months)
Length: 29 1/8 inches (up from 27 1/4 inches)
Weight: 19 lbs. 12 oz. (up from 17 lbs. 8 oz.)

Yep! I am a growing boy!! It was amazing to look back to see how much things had changed since I was last at the doctor's office at 6 months, such as...

Mommy's pregnant
I learned to sit up on my own
I got my first tooth
Stopped breastfeeding
Learned to drink out of a sippy cup
Feeding myself "puffs" (little bite size snacks)
Getting up on all fours...almost crawling!!

I have some funny new tricks that I have acquire this last week or so. One is to shake my head back and forth when Mom or Dad says "No, no, no" and shakes their head too. I like to mimic lots of things they do now, so they better start watching what they do :-)!! I am also clapping my hands together...all by myself!

Mover and Shaker

Hello everyone!! I don't have any new pictures on the computer yet that I can share, but I wanted to at least post some news. I am really getting around these days. No quite crawling, but through combinations of stretching, reaching, rolling, scooting, etc. I seem to be able to get around. Mom says I never seem to be quite where she left me. If something catches my eye, I have to go for it. I am really close to crawling though. I am up on all fours a lot lately, I just need to work on moving those feet out from under me and coordinating my hands and legs. Then Mom and Dad are in for it!!!

This past weekend, I went with Mom to her scrapbooking weekend on Keuka Lake. I got to see Grandma Peterson, Aunt Lou Lou, Aunt Kathy, Aunt Michelle and Aunt Shannon. I spent Friday night with the ladies and they all couldn't get enough of me. On Saturday afternoon, Dad came to get me so I could get some "boys time". He took care of me on Saturday night and Sunday morning so Mom could enjoy some more time scrapbooking. On Sunday, Mom's college friends, Angela and Frank stopped by for a few minutes on their way back to Baltimore from Rochester. They have a son named Colin who is 2 years old. We got to play together on the floor for a while which was fun. I can't wait to be able to move all around like he does.

Yesterday, Mom and I took a trip up to Rochester. We took Karlie and Jenna out to lunch and shopping for their birthdays. Then we spent some time at Aunt Lou Lou's, then headed to Grandma's for a nap. When I woke up, Brooke, my Mom's best friend was there. She stayed for quite a while so she could play with me. Her husband, Angelo stopped over too. So did Aunt Amy and Uncle George. I am always popular when I am in town!!
