Back from the Bug

Hi there friends and family! It's Tyrus here! I'm back after a little break. You'll have to forgive me for the lack of posts lately. I was a bit under the weather last week and just starting to feel like myself again. Looks like I had a stomach bug which wasn't very fun, but I didn't let that stop me from smiling most of the time, even through some high fevers and messy situations.

Mom Mom and Dad Dad took good care of me over the weekend, even though they weren't feeling great themselves. Daddy put together a big track with my GeoTrax set, let me lay on his chest and watch movies, and read me countless "Thomas the Tank Engine" stories.

Teddy seemed to avoid most of the symptoms the rest of the family was having, although he has been in some prickly moods with his two top teeth cutting through. You can see his new teeth coming in these pictures. For some reason, Teddy always makes this funny face when Mom points a camera at him. Must be getting ready for the flash or something. Anyway, we think it is pretty funny.

Teddy is also getting some new mobility techniques. He isn't crawling yet, but it seems like he is getting close. He kind of rolls around in order to reach things, and get himself up on all four, but doesn't go anywhere. He seems to quickly tire and just put his head down for a rest....

...but I am always there to offer a little encouragement and love!

Grammy has been over a few times this week to watch us. Yesterday, her and Mom were so busy talking and waiting to put Teddy up for his nap, that tired, little Teddy just went to sleep in Grammy's arms.

We got a lot of snow here over night, so Mom Mom and I decided to venture outside to play in the snow while Teddy napped this morning. I am getting more and more used to walking around in it. Mom tried to help me out by shoveling some "roads" for me to walk on and push my trucks. Delia and Blossom love the snow too!!

Splish, Splash, Takin' a Bath

Bath time is extra fun now that Teddy is big enough to take baths with me. Mom and Dad love it too because it has cut the whole bath time routine in half. We love to play with the new bath toys we got for Christmas, especially our foam vehicles and roads.

Teddy turned 9 months old this week, which meant he had to go into the doctor's for a check-up. He now weighs 20 lbs. 11 oz. (50th percentile) and is 29 1/2 inches long (85th percentile). I figure I better be nice to him since there is a good chance he may be bigger than me someday.

Teddy was happy to be at the doctor's, that was until they had to give him two shots. He especially liked to play with the paper they have on the table. It makes a crinkly noise when you move it, which always scared me, but Teddy thinks it is funny.

We have been hanging out at home a lot these last few days since it is SOOO cold outside. It was so cold the other night that the pipe to our kitchen sink froze! I occupy myself these days mainly with my trains. I love all the Thomas the Train toys I have gotten. I know all their names and am pretty particular about having them all lined up just so. Gordon is my favorite.. I hate to leave him at night to go to bed, and he is the first thing I ask for when I wake up in the morning.
Here is a picture of Teddy and I from today. We went to church this morning dressed in our matching sweatshirts from Aunt Shel Shel and Uncle Joe. We were sharing a little snack and spending some time with Grammy before she headed up to Rochester.

2009 is a Good Year So Far!

We are officially into 2009 and so far, it has been a good year! I started the year off with a fun night here at our house with Grammy Peterson and my friend Sydney. She came to stay with us for the evening so her Mom and Dad, Steve & Angie could go with my Mom Mom and Dad Dad to a New Year's Eve party. We had lots of fun together since Sydney is a high energy kid like me. I didn't stay up to ring in the New Year though. That is way too late for me!

We just hung out at home on New Year's day, but on Friday we went to Canisteo. First, we went to Papa's house to open some more Christmas presents (apparently they were so well hidden for Christmas that Papa forgot about them ;-). We played and had lunch, and then headed over to Great-Grandpa & Grandma Young's house. Gram Gram was there and we spent a few hours just enjoying being together.

Teddy sure can make Great-Grandma Young smile!

Teddy and I had everyone laughing as we played together on the floor. Don't worry, I wasn't hurting him. He was laughing the hardest of anyone!

On Saturday, Mom, Dad, Teddy and I all took a day trip out to Syracuse. The trip started out a little rough (forgotten purse, Teddy & some spit up, slick roads), but we finally made it up there safely. We met a bunch of Mom's family from the Syracuse area to celebrate my Great Aunt Dottie's birthday. We had lunch together. It was great to see our family. I kept all my cousins busy as they chased me around the restaurant. Hey, it was a long drive and I needed to stretch my legs!

Uncle John and Theodore
They both share blue eyes, and apparently a love of thumb-sucking.

Teddy with our cousin Matt. This was their first meeting!

It has been nice to return back to a normal pace of life. Mom Mom, Teddy and I have spent most of the week here at home, getting back into our routines and enjoying all the great toys we got for Christmas.
We wish everyone a blessed year in 2009!

More Christmas Photos

Sorry, I know I had promised some more Christmas photos...and that it has taken me over a week to get them up. Mom and Dad have had Teddy and I on the run this last week. Mom Mom, Grammy, Teddy and I spent the first part of the week in Rochester. We stayed at Aunt Amanda and Scott's house (thanks for the hospitality) and did some shopping and some visiting. Then we celebrated the New Year by actually staying home for a change. Mom and Dad went out on New Year's Eve and Grammy babysat. Today we went to Canisteo for some visits, and tomorrow we are going all the way to Syracuse for some more visits. Needless to say, things are busy as we begin 2009! I hope everyone has a blessed year!!
Here are some photos of Christmas, as promised. These are mostly from last Friday at the Peterson Family Christmas at Grammy's house.
