My Great-Grandma Peters passed away on Sunday night. She had been in the hospital since Wednesday, which has been quite common for her this past year, but she always seemed to recover and get back home. So, it was quite a shock to us when we heard the news.
I always loved going to visit my Great-Grandma Tina. Mom and I made frequent trips throughout this year into Canisteo for a day of visits, and Grandma Tina was always on our list. She would light up when we would walk in, so happy to see us. She was always so excited to see my latest tricks and would always comment on what a happy boy I was. I will miss those visits with Grandma Tina, and I am so thankful she had the chance to meet me and watch me grow over this last year.
Mom, Dad and I have spent the last two days in Canisteo going to Great-Grandma's wake and funeral. We got to see lots of family and as always, I had lots of fun with my cousins. I wore everyone out at the funeral home as I crawled around as fast as I could. I had everyone chasing after me. Mom and Dad were so proud of me at the funeral service because I was so good. Besides a few coos and giggles as I saw family I knew, I stayed quiet the whole time and relaxed as Daddy held me. Daddy even got up to speak, holding me in his arms, as he reminded everyone in the family how much Grandma loved them and spoke about them all the time, especially her 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. I feel so blessed having been able to have a Great-Grandma in my life, even if for a short time.
We love you Great-Grandma Tina!
