The Month of August

I guess I have to just write about the whole month of August since it has quickly passed by with no blog postings. I can't even remember all the things I did this month. Good thing I have some photos to remind me!

Once we got back from our trip to the Adirondacks, we scheduled a big celebration dinner at Papa Peters house. Papa's birthday passed while we were gone, but we didn't want that to keep us from celebrating with him. My Uncle Joe, Aunt Shel, cousins Cohen and Cooper and Gram Gram Peters were all there. The best parts were playing in Papa's yard with my cousins and eating ice cream cake!

We've been enjoying our new playground. Our favorite thing to do is swing. I can use the big boy swing now and I love it! I always want an "underdog" or to "go higher"! Daddy can push us and swing with us at the same time!
There were a few really hot days this month. To escape the heat, we would go up to "the lake", my Great-Grandpa and Grandma Young's cottage on Demons Pond. I love it there. I particularly like to wade around in the water and throw big rocks, watch them splash and then try to find them again. This was a favorite rock of mine. It is a square and therefore easy to find on the bottom.

We always have good food at the lake too. Great-Grandpa Young makes the best sweet corn because he cooks it for just the right amount of time. The kernels just burst in your mouth! Teddy was loving his piece of corn!!

Around mid-month, we took a trip up to Aunt Jane & Uncle Gary's camp. It was a weekend of fun with Grammie Peterson there, and Uncle George, Aunt Lou Lou and the girls. Even their cousins Daniel and Nicholas were there. Mom and Dad took me and Teddy for a little boat ride around the pond, and Uncle Gary put up the same ol' swingset that Mom, Aunt Amy and Aunt Amanda all played on when they were little. They love when we come up to their camp and do everything to make it a safe and fun place for us to stay!

I went swimming with Daddy in the pond. I'm still not so sure about water when I can't put my feet down, but Daddy made it better.

The town was having their Community Days and Mom, Dad, Grammie, me and Teddy all went to catch the parade. There were fire trucks and old cars, and some of the float threw candy!

We spent one Saturday this month in the Syracuse area. First we went to the Summerville Farm to celebrate Mr. & Mrs. Summerville's 50th wedding anniversary. I've been wanting to go to the farm for so long! It was just as wonderful as I expected. I loved to see the baby calf and the big tractors. I even got to ride in one! After the farm, we went to a graduation party for Mom's cousin's twin daugters. We got to see lots of family that we don't see often enough. One of them was my Mom's Great Aunt Arlene. Aunt Arlene is really special because she is the last sister of 15 siblings of my Great-Grandma Gertie, my Mom's beloved grandmother.

Speaking of Great-Grandparents, I've got too of the best around! We had a fantastic Sunday dinner at the lake that weekend and stayed long enough to get our jammies on there. I cuddled with both Grandma and Grandpa Young. Teddy was as content as could be sitting on Grandpa's lap with his blankie and his thumb.

This last weekend of August was a "boy's weekend" here at our house. That is because Mom was gone off to see some friends for the weekend, and it was just Daddy, me and Teddy here to fend for ourselves. We had lots of fun doing "boy" things, but we were all glad to see Mom when she came home.
And that was our month in a nutshell....
